Good Vibes of Black & White

Can you ever go wrong with gold in a layout? Especially when it pops against black and white photos. I have to say I am really loving creating layouts with black and white photos. Its been super fun creating different colour combos and see how they turn out. I would never have thought to do this deep deep green, musky pink and caramel combo from the September Kit for Sassy Scrappers , but so glad I did. I absolutely love how it turned out.

I think my favourite part about this layout is the pieces of vellum used in different ways over the spread. From a badge backing, to a filler card and finally a photo pocket with embellishments running down it. I love how it adds that something extra to the page, but in a really subltle way.

One thing I have done with quite a few layouts using the Heidi Swapp Stickers from the September Kit, is cover parts of the rainbow stickers with glitter. This worked out really well, particularly when there was a colour that didn't quite match the rest of the spreads palette. Plus it also added some sparkly texture, which in my books is always a win.

As you may have also noticed with my spreads, I like to co-ordinate not only the colours, but also how I add journalling over the pockets. With this layout I wanted to keep it nice and simple with adding wording to white strips and then attaching them to parts of the photo's. Simple but effective...

I like to remember this little phrase I came up with when I'm scrapbooking and the page just doesn't seem to be working out " When in doubt do black and white".
